Good morning, HUMP DAY.

Here's a long read by Seymour Hersh in the London Review of Books that a reader sent on Syria, CBW, and the red line.

Moviegeeks, here's an interesting three-part piece on the future of film, particularly the tentpole strategy.

Lawgeeks, Judge Facciola denied another warrant application for seizure and search of email.

In last night's special election in Arlington County, Virginia, an unlikely union between the GOP and the Greens has given the county its first non-Democrat board member in 15 years: " the result is likely to be viewed by many as a voter rebuke of the County BoardÂ’s major capital spending projects."

I'll have to dig up the exact quote, but in one of my Hollywood memoirs, there's a statement to the effect of, yes, the Mayers and Cohns and Warners were bastards, but they were movie men, first, last and always.  They loved movies.  As opposed to the post-mogul days, when the Wassermans and Bluhdorns and other money men called the shots.  All they saw was a bottom line.  There was no way a real movie executive would have let MGM sell off all its old props or 20th dump all its old costumes.

Morning, ‘rons and ‘ronettes.  Not a story today, more of a tourist recommendation.

Have you ever seen a picture of this statue?

http://tinyurl.com/ofn8ynu

ItÂ’s called “Forever Marilyn” and is the work of sculptor Seward Johnson.  Standing twenty-six feet high, it is a representation of MonroeÂ’s most iconic pose, the “subway grate” scene from 1955s The Seven Year Itch.  Originally erected in Chicago in 2011, it was moved to Palm Springs, California and now, itÂ’s at the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey as part of a May-September 2014 exhibition honoring JohnsonÂ’s work.

IÂ’d like to see it, myself.  Looks like IÂ’ll have to be doing a road trip sometime this summer.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

If they floated Jeb, and he ain't it, I  don't think they'll  lose any sleep over it.  As everyone should know, they do have a  certain Latin  dreamboat candidate still on ice.  They're just waiting for some of the  anger attached to him to die down a bit.

But, I am disappointed more often than not lately.  Sequels are one of my biggest gripes..  Kick Ass 2, anyone?  I didn't see that one..  Hahaha what a dud..

One I did see was "The Host"..  every popular book, especially for young adults, makes its way onto the screen nowadays.  "Beautiful Creatures" was another failure from that genre..

Then, there's the movies that think they can throw a big star into and automatically make money..  Put Deniro and Stallone into a stupid "Grudge Match" movie.. another dud.

85 Not a Western, but I just saw the Indian film, "The Lunchbox" last night. I was told in advance that it was more of a chick flick but I don't think it was, except that it was sort of slow moving at times, but it was brilliantly acted and moving. Saw a trailer for some film with Woody Allen as someone who hires a man to be a high class male prostitute, Sound tasteless and dreadful and you couldn't pay me to see it..

Further, since Holder is subject to the impeachment process, the Congressional jail is not an option for him, at least as long as he's AG.

Of course, initiating the impeachment process is up to Bo(eh)ner.

It's very difficult to even talk about peace now. They're not interested in peace. I think that we are at war with Islam. And there's no middle ground in wars." (Emphasis mine.) Now, how could a simple statement like that possibly be "inconsistent with Brandeis University's core values"? Wait... isn't Brandeis all women? As somewhat of a recovering cognitive dissonant myself, I have some sympathy, but mostly just want to shout, wake up! The status of womankind under Islam is particularly hopeless. "The White House wanted to have it both ways. . .. " Hello. Earth to Seymour, Obozo and his political hacks always want to have it both ways. And "there is great reluctance [in the intelligence community] to contradict the President. . ." In short, in the reign of Good King Obozo, you have to go with the flow. If he says a smelly wet fresh cow flop is a gold coin, well, By God It's A Gold Coin! Of course the problem is that Good King Obozo has never run anything except his mouth. A good and experienced leader knows that he has to able to receive bad news--and maybe even be contradicted in his pet assumptions if he wants to know the truth. Until this little boy grows up we're all boned.

But we don't know, and never will, because the Feds can just assert it was always theirs.

251 Well this is not good for Obama Care. NY Slime story, maybe fire walled. Express Scripts says prescription drug costs for new enrollees with HIV is FOUR times as high as employee plans. All in all old and sick people are enrolling. No wonder the ghey's love Obamacare, we get to pay for their medicine. Off to the bath houses we go! http://tinyurl.com/muyxcj8

Once, while seeing America, I worked on a ranch in Montana through the summer months.  Most  physically  demanding  work of my life, by the way.   Anyway, ranchers (then, but probably still) have a real dislike/hate relationship with the BLM.  The Feds own so much land that for generations has been used as summer grazing land (and is critical to beef production) that ranchers have to work with  them, but  they  totally resent the sense of servitude  BLM encourages.   My own reaction was that it sure was nice of the Feds to put up all the capital to keep the grazing land available for the ranchers, and if you didn't like it you (the rancher) should try to buy a bigger ranch.  Problem is, the Feds really do own most all the  suitable  land.

But, really, why is the tortoise even at issue here?  Cows just wander around and eat grass.  People are rarely there.  Why does the tortoise's existence mean the land cannot be used?  It doesn't--  this is just the enviros trying to empty the land and return it totally to the wild.

261 I know the internet has destroyed my reading ability and comprehension so I'm asking those in the horde smarter then me to 'splain the Seymour Hersh story because it makes no sense to me. I know my reading comprehension has been destroyed by the internet because I read that my reading comprehension has been ruined on the internet. So Obama wanted to start WWIII but chickened out? Was talked out of it by the Chief's joint? Was set up? Wanted to be a big war hero like Bush in Iraq and lost his nerve? Got set up by faulty intelligence? Got set up by Erdoğan ? Got played by Putin? Wanted to be a great political leader and have his plans for WWIII approved by congress and he thought they would, or he thought congress would not approve and give him an escape? Or did all of this happen because all of Obama's political advisers were constructing this huge vehicle to make Obama appear to be a World Leader and when it came time for Obama to give the order. . . .ok see, that's what I don't get. Who did what to whom? I see from the comments that some on this sometimes smart military blog say that Hersh is not a credible source. . . and I know from reading on the internet that someone can say a thing and someone else can say the opposite thing and some poor schmuck like me will never know the truth because peons like me can't handle the truth and because the 'players' don't want the masses to know the truth and after a while there is no truth because truth is subjective. So somebody tell me what to think! Please! I hate not knowing.

269 Cows just wander around and eat grass. People are rarely there. Why does the tortoise's existence mean the land cannot be used? **** Are you serious? Have you ever seen the way cows treat tortoises and other slow-moving reptiles after the sun goes down. Sure daytime is all "moo, moo this" and "moo, moo that", but when it gets dark outside there are parts of the high desert that tortoises scurry through clutching their purses. Cows be all flashing gang signs and shit.

276 Vic,

I had a hard time reading all the stupid in that article about Hirsi Ali.  What a tragedy.

Per the article, she's "islamophobic"?  WTF?  She's endured as much pain and suffering at the hands of islam as any victim of islam.  She is clearly qualified to speak out against that bullshit.
